KUCHING: A man who lives with his disabled younger brother managed to escape after their 80-yearold wooden house was razed at 10pm on Wednesday.

The house owner, 52-year-old Jeffrey from Kampung Melayu said that he was taking a bath when he heard sparks and saw the house on fire.

Wrapping a towel around himself, he quickly pulled out his brother with the help of his neighbours.

The fire started in the sitting room and was believed to be a short circuit. It quickly spread to other parts of the house.

As his younger brother could not walk, he sought the help of his neighbours to carry him out. Jeffrey could not save anything from the house. His brother was then sent to the Sarawak General Hospital to be given medical check-up.

The Fire and Rescue Department dispatched two f i re engines (Padungan and Batu Lintang) to the scene to control the fire from spreading.
