BINTULU: Two people were killed in a fire which destroyed the canteen of an estate at Jalan Pesisir here on Wednesday.
According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre (PGO), the deceased have been identified as Wong Ling Poung, 47, and Lee Hua Hing, 23.
The bodies were discovered by Bintulu firemen inside the building.
One of the bodies was found inside a room, while the other was nearby the canteen’s payment counter.
Upon responding to a distress call at 9.05pm, a team of 10 firemen, led by PBKII Stephen Plen, rushed to the scene to help extinguish the fire.
The cause of the incident is not immediately known and investigations are under way.
