SERIAN: A motorist and his passenger were injured after their car collided with a lorry at Kampung Abit, Serian-Sri Aman Road on Monday morning (June 22).

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call pertaining to the 5.57am incident and despatched firemen from the Serian Fire and Rescue Station to the scene. 

Fire operation commander PBK II (Kup) William Bony Alah reported that two victims were trapped inside the car when the firemen arrived.

The car was heading to Betong before the incident.

“Both victims were extricated. The 26-year-old driver sustained a broken right ankle and was brought to the Balai Ringin health clinic by an ambulance.

“The 35-year-old passenger injured his right thigh and was brought to Serian Hospital by the emergency medical rescue services (EMRS) unit,” William said in a statement.
