MIRI: Firefighters managed to rescue a foreign worker who collapsed in a manhole at Jalan By Pass Vista Perdana today (Mar 23).

A spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said it received a distress call at 8.35am and despatched Lopeng firemen to the scene.

Upon arrival, the team found the unconscious victim, 56, in the manhole and it is said that the victim was carrying out maintenance works in the 20-feet deep manhole.

It was told that a wind blower pump above (the manhole) suddenly fell and hit the victim, causing him to collapse.

The team extricated the victim out from the manhole and took him to Miri Hospital for further treatment.
