KUCHING: The appearance of a large cross-like water formation at the Bung Bratak waterfall, or ‘ribuan nowang’ in Bidayuh, has attracted the interest of many Christian trekkers and visitors to the site.

Bung Bratak Heritage Association (BBHA) chairman Datuk Peter Minos said that when he was alerted of the cross, he was amazed and surprised.

“I could only say that our association and its Bung Bratak project are well-blessed,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He said this may explain why hundreds of trekkers from near and far trekked up to Bung Bratak every weekend to enjoy the fresh mountain air, scenery, forests, waterfall, Bidayuh traditional longhouses and food, and more.

“It is unique and that lifts the heart and gives peace of mind,” he said.

He said that the association was glad that Bung Bratak was such a hit with the public.

“We feel that the hard work building up to the Bung Bratak project has been really worth the effort.

“It has not been easy for all of us — the volunteers — in doing up the whole thing. But we did it,” said Minos.
