SIBU: Visitor registration for a popular weekend market here today recorded 1,840 visitors — more than the day before which was 1,717.

The weekend market moved from Taman Mahsuri to Taman Indah last Saturday.

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting visited the market to monitor its situation.

He said that he believed there are more who didn’t register.

“I believe a lot more didn’t register and instead entered through the sides of the premises.

“I entered using MySejahtera. These are not accounted for,” he explained.

Ting said during his visit, he was approached by a few who wanted to obtain permits to trade, but that the waiting list is long.

“I am surprised by the increase in visitors — the traders told me that at 8am, they felt that less people were coming in,” he said.
