29 teams battle in second round

SAMARAHAN: The 51st Edition Asajaya Unity Cup 2017 football tournament is getting hotter with 29 teams taking part in the second round starting last Sunday.

The participating teams were the winners of the first round that started on the third day of Raya.

The chairman of the tournament, Jalek Jaafar @ Lapok said six matches will take place each day.

“The second round started last Sunday, followed by the third round, quarter-finals and semi-finals,” said Jalek.

According to Jalek, the matches for the second round were more intense as most teams were also led by many former star players.

The quarter-finals are scheduled to start on Saturday (8th July), followed by the semifinals on Sunday morning (9th July) and the final stages of the same day.

The champions will bring home RM5,000 cash together with a challenge trophy, accompanying trophies and medals.

Meanwhile, the runners-up will receive RM3,000 cash, trophy and medals.

The two losing semi-finalists will each receive RM1,500, a trophy and medals winner as joint third place winners.
