Police destroy drugs worth RM1.3 mil

KUCHING: The state narcotics police today (Sept 25) disposed of various drugs worth RM1,382,594 at Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park (KIWMP) in Padawan.

NCID chief, ACP Jasmirol Jamaluddin, said that the disposal involved case items in 12 districts, namely, Kota Samarahan, Bau, Padawan, Serian, Sri aman, Betong, Sarikei, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, Limbang and Lawas.

The various types of drugs that were disposed of included syabu, marijuana, ketamine, Ecstacy pills, Erimin 5 and Nospan pills weighing a total of 11,223.11g, and 3,413 tablets.

“The destroyed items involved a total of 1,823 cases that were solved and litigated in court from 2010 to 2019,” he said in a statement.

He explained the procedure for destroying the drugs was in accordance with the provisions under under the Permanent Order of the Inspector General of Police D207 which is ‘Control of Disposal of Case Goods in Police Investigation’.

Other than the drugs, a total of 1,329 urine bottles were also disposed of.

Jasmirol stressed that his department remained serious and committed to combating drug-related offences.

“Hence, I call on the community to cooperate and channel information to the police so that the issue of substance abuse can be curbed together,” he said.
