KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) is holding its convocation ceremony in compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

“For the past two years, the pandemic has impacted policies and practices of institutions of higher learning, public and private.

“For this year’s convocation ceremony, we are adhering strictly to SOP and only graduates are invited to attend,” said Unimas vice-chancellor Datuk Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi.

He said this during his speech on the first day (Feb 14), adding that institutions had modified and improved teaching and learning delivery strategies and methods to ensure that students are not left behind.

“Indirectly, it also increases resilience among students and lecturers who have to adapt to the new learning system through the use of technology.

“In addition, I believe the experience of learning during the course of the pandemic makes students more resilient to face challenges in the future.”

He congratulated the graduates for completing their studies despite the ongoing pandemic in the country and in Sarawak.
