KUCHING: Breaking fast in hotels, restaurants and halls is allowed during the Ramadan month.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) however said, group bookings from government and private agencies are prohibited, and only groups of individuals, as well as immediate family members, are allowed.

“Hotels and restaurants operators and halls must inform the local authorities and the respective Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) before being allowed to open,” it said in a statement today (April 10).

SDMC also said walk-in is not permitted and breaking fast must be made by reservation.

“Waiting-in-line is also not allowed and customers are to make choices through the menu while food will be served at each table,” it said.

The committee said that the number of customers allowed is only 50 percent of the restaurant’s capacity or a maximum of 300 people for the hall or hotel.

SDMC made this decision after evaluating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that were presented by the Ministry of Local Government and Housing Sarawak (MLGH).
