KAPIT: A police report was immediately lodged following a gruesome discovery of a body in a house at Taman Kapit here last Thursday.

The deceased, identified as Ian William, a 66-year-old British, was believed to have died a few days earlier, based on the remains’ swollen and decayed condition.

Kapit district police chief DSP Freddy Bian Stanislaus said that the body was found in the bathroom.

“The body was found by the complainant, who is a relative of the victim’s wife, when visiting the house around 4.30pm.

“Earlier, the complainant found the house to be quiet and smelly which started to cause him (the complainant) to feel uneasy,” Freddy said in a statement.

The complainant inspected the house and was shocked to find the deceased in the bathroom of the second floor of the house.  A police report was lodged at 6.03pm on the same day.

Freddy added that the victim was said to be living alone in the house while his wife is in Kuala Lumpur.
