Harden visits the RTP project site at Rumah Rangga Angkom, Sungai Tenggak B, Undop in Sri Aman.

KUCHING: Simanggang assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis hoped that the Tuai Rumah (longhouse/village chiefs) will not be used as a tool to create hatred towards the government of the day.

“I sympathise with certain village chiefs who are being used by the opposition as a platform to hate on the government.

“Similarly, there are individuals who said that they hate the government without realising that the facilities given and currently used are the results of the development done by the government,” he said when visiting several rural transformation programme (RTP) projects in Simanggang today.

He said development would not exist by itself unless the respective elected representatives make plans and ensure development projects are implemented for the people.

On the RTP projects, he said the new 20 door-Rumah Sabong Akong longhouse, Bayai Baru in Sri Aman is 50 percent completed.

“Another RTP project is the construction of the new road at Rumah Rangga Angkom, Sungai Tenggak B, Undop in Sri Aman.

“This project costs RM350,000 which also includes the construction of a bridge crossing Sungai Klassen,” he said.

He then thanked those who continued to support the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government as it is the entity that is capable of carrying development projects for the people.
