KUCHING: Kuching City FC head coach Irfan Bakti Abu Salim has played down the absence of star striker Abu Kamara and Mohamad Alif Hassan through suspension in their next Malaysia Super League match against Johor DarulTa’zim on May 19.

Both players will be suspended in the next match against the champions elect after accumulating three yellow cards respectively.

However, Irfan said his other players who are free from injury and suspension will be ready to fight for the shirt.

“The absence of both players is not much of a concern as I believe their replacements are capable of fulfilling their roles when they are given the opportunity to start the match.

“Our preparation for the match has been going well and we are looking forward to the match against JDT,” Irfan told New Sarawak Tribune.

He also admitted that it may seem a difficult match on paper for his players and getting something out of the game against JDT is a daunting task by itself as the league leader has been flying high so far this season but nothing is impossible.

“It is not going to be an easy match but we will certainly try our best to play against them.

“We will try to shore up our defence to avoid conceding goals and then we will go from there to see how it goes in that match,” Irfan added.
