Engaging, noting SUPP’s walkabout

MIRI: Various issues were brought up by the public during the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Senadin service team walkabout.

It was held at the Riam Corner Foodcourt this morning.

Present to grace the walkabout session were Minister of Transport cum Senadin assemblyman Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin and Cr Jeffery Phang who is also Senadin branch secretary.

Issues brought up during the event included problems of clogged drains, resurfacing of roads plus the bad traffic jams at Airport Road and Taman Tunku junctions.

Lee took the opportunity to explain to those in attendance the current progress of Pan Borneo Highway project and upgrading of the traffic light junctions.

Currently, the construction workers are carrying out the tar-sealing of the slip roads and junction areas, he told.

“They are trying their best to get the project done as soon as possible and they have also been doing over time works at night,” Lee said.

Lee said that he had made an arrangement to visit the site with the Pan Borneo Highway project engineers and contractor tomorrow to follow up on the latest progress and update.

Some of the public expressed their gratitude pertaining to the hard working construction workers who do their job overnight in order to get the complete the project as soon as possible.

During the walkabout, his service team members also talked to the general public and collected feedbacks while also distributing facemasks. Joining the minister were Cr Kueh Chie Tiong, Cr Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong, Cr Yap Siew Jin, Cr Ernest Goh Khiok Seng, Kapitan Jee Kee Hiong, several Riam Committee members, the party’s Women and Youth wings’ members.
