KUCHING: Employers are encouraged to set-up nurseries to help ease the burden of working parents who send their children to nursery homes.

Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said nurseries will bring comfort to their staff who have young children.

“For working parents, it is important that their children are placed in a safe environment that will also provide quality education.

“Such a support system is vital for parents,” she told reporters after visiting Taska SeDidik Semariang here today (Feb 6).

Adding on, she also pointed out that the nursery provided by the employer could help retain their female workforce.

“A lot of our women are highly educated. They have the skills and knowledge that they can use to contribute to the company in which they are employed, the community and the state at large,” she said.

Fatimah also called on housing developers to include nurseries and kindergartens in their development plans.

“These facilities are what the community really needs now (in their housing area),” she said.
