KUCHING: Sarawak police have arrested four civil servants for violating the quarantine order.

“Three were arrested in Sibu while one was arrested in Kanowit, for cutting off the wristband before the end of the quarantine period,,” said Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement.

Eleven compounds were also issued to errant individuals on Monday (Aug 17) for failing to comply with standard operating procedure (SOP) in public places.

“Kuching recorded the most with five compounds issued, followed by Padawan, with two compounds.

“One compound each was issued to errant individuals in Miri, Kota Samarahan, Sarikei and Betong.”

SDMC also said the General Operations Force arrested 20 Indonesians, who had illegally entered Malaysia via a ‘jalan tikus’ (rat trail) at an oil palm plantation near St Raymond’s school in Serian.

All failed to produce any identification documents and they were arrested under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and handed over to Tebedu police for further action.
