KUCHING: Do visit The Spring Shopping Mall which is all set to welcome the upcoming Gawai Festival.

Culture buffs are invited to delve deeper into the enchanting Little Baruk to explore the unheard tribal tales of the Borneo while selfie enthusiasts can take a scenic stroll across the bridge circling the Baruk to pose for a series of selfies or even, wefies with family and friends.

 Foodies will be pleased to find   hidden gems waiting for them at the Alfresco after meandering through the exciting urban terrain of the mall  in the form of The Spring’s Ruai Gawai Kitai.

 The outdoor bonanza hosts numerous food booths, boasting buzzworthy munchies such as Prawn Pansuh, Mealworm Umai, Tuak Ice-cream, Tuak Mojito and other local traditional grubs.

 This outdoor food affair not only offers an amazing array of Dayak dishes to the patrons every evening from 19 May to 28 May. It also boasts captivating live performances to keep everyone entertained and satisfied before the night ends.

 For  ladies who are looking for  statement pieces to make their Gawai outfits pop, they can pick out classic handmade traditional bead jewellery from MnJ Beads or check out gorgeous handwoven bags from the Penan Women Project.

All proceeds from the sales of these beautiful Penan bags will be channelled back for the betterment of the Penan community and their future generations.

 In between shopping and eating at the mall, there is a whole new variety of fun for kids happening today at The Spring’s Little Baruk where they get to learn about The Origins of the Bunga Terung through interactive activities by Pustaka Bookaroo such as storytelling session and bookmark making.

 Admission is free and parents can register their children for this workshop at the Customer Service Counter.

Other events to look forward to are the mesmerising live cultural acts which are set to perform in The Spring’s Little Baruk on  27 May.
