KUCHING: Youth who aspire to be politicians should start getting involved with the existing political party, said Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

He said direct involvement at branch or sub-branch levels is very important and dubbed as the best platform for beginners to grasp the training of leadership.

“Take drainage or welfare problem as an example; if youth go on the ground, they would learn to gather information on the issues faced by the local community.

“Next, they would refer or forward the matter to the elected representative or relevant agencies.

“From such work alone, they can obtain first-hand information and progress steadily on how they can solve the problems faced at the grassroots level,” he said.

He said this when co-hosting the inaugural episode of the ‘Kakya Tek Talkshow’ together with Nur Aisyah Eiryeeza Sabri Waini@Sabri broadcasted live on his Facebook page on Saturday night.

The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth deputy chief further said that the party’s culture is more towards training and grooming the youth in becoming future leaders.

“From there, the top leadership will decide on the potential candidates to contest in election based on their experience delivering services to the people.

“Everyone has their merits and credits but the party’s leadership still has to choose only one candidate to contest in the election,” he added.

As an elected representative, Fazzrudin said it is his job to address the issues faced by the local constituents such as welfare, education, development, agriculture and so on.

“I usually learn of these problems based on letters from the constituents sent to the constituency service centre. Some others also got in contact with me directly via text message or on social media.

“Some problems can be solved in a short period of time but there are also some which require further discussion with relevant agencies or third parties,” he said.

The ‘Kakya Tek Talkshow’ will be broadcasted once a week to address current issues which revolves around the local community.
