KUALA LUMPUR: Haleon Malaysia, the company behind brands such as Panadol and Sensodyne, is targeting to become a market leader in the body pain relief products by next year.

General manager (Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei) Bryan Wong said the company also aims to record triple-fold sales growth for its Panaflex Patch range of body pain relief products this year.

“We aim to be number two in terms of market share by the end of this year, and we should be number one by next year,” he told reporters after the launch of Panaflex Hot and Cool Patches here today.

Prior to this, Panaflex offers muscle and joint pain relief patches.

Wong said the company took four years to develop the latest products to cater to Malaysian needs as body pain is one of the top types of pain experienced by Malaysians.

“We bring our research and development as well as science into it and we got very positive feedback from the market such as retailers, consumers and pharmacists.

“So we are hoping to be able to ramp up our production in case we see the demand picking up,” he said.

Meanwhile, commenting on the performance of the company this year, Wong said the demand for consumer healthcare products post-Covid-19 pandemic is changing, depending on the products.

Currently, the demand for Panadol is normalising at a steady level and that for products such as multi-vitamins is growing, he said.

“During the pandemic, there was a big demand for immunity products containing Vitamin C such as Scott’s which is coming down a little bit right now, but other products which are multivitamins are growing (in demand).

“So we will continue to innovate so that we can meet our consumers’ needs,” he added. – BERNAMA
