KUCHING: The iSarawakCare mobile app was officially launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Sarawak Women X: Global Innovative Entrepreneurship programme yesterday.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development (KWKPK) Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that her ministry had been working with the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and Socoe to digitalise all of the KWKPK’s major services into an online application.

“The app will include the information on government assistance through KWKPK,” she said when speaking at the programme at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here yesterday.

“Upon registering with the app, citizens will be notified of all types of grants or assistance that they are eligible for under our ministry over their lifespans,” she explained.

She said that the iSarawakCare app would enable its users to stay updated through notifications on their phone, keeping them in the loop on all important changes or new services made available by KWKPK.

She said the other benefits included information clarity, cost efficiencies, and seamless transition.

To start with, she said that high-impact services would go online, followed by many more to come. “This will enable faster delivery of services to Sarawakians.”

The event also saw Abang Johari launching the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) for senior citizens above 60 and a coffee table book ‘Stories of Womenpreneurs of Sarawak’ produced by Socoe.

The book features 30 Sarawak women entrepreneurs, most of whom had received grants through the Women and Family Department (JWKS) to improve their marketing.

Fatimah said that the symposium, held in conjunction with International Women’s Day, aimed to consolidate various existing efforts in Sarawak by sharing best practices from various governmental bodies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to further strengthen the support for women entrepreneurship.

“In this symposium, speakers from different fields will be sharing their ideas and thoughts with the participating women entrepreneurs,” she said.
