KUCHING: The Kuala Rajang Futsal Competition 2022 has come to an end with the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Kuala Rajang Division Youth chief Mohd Tazullah Khan officiating at the closing ceremony on Sunday (Feb 6).

Mohd Tazullah was representing Kuala Rajang assemblyman Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

According to Kuala Rajang PBB Youth in a Facebook post on Sunday (Feb 6), the three-day futsal competition organised by the Sarikei Football and Futsal Referees Club in collaboration with Sarikei Football Association was held at the Bujang Merah Futsal Court at the Kampung Seberang Sarikei Integrity Sports Complex.

Len Talif, whose speech was read by Mohd Tazullah, said through such a programme, it would be able to attract teenagers and youth in carrying out healthy activities as well as fostering the spirit of teamwork.

“Having such a programme proves that those who drop out of school can hone their talents in sports activities or various community programmes so that they do not feel left out,” he said.

He said that the youths and teenagers’ exposure in the sports arena is not marginalised, but they also gain experience and high skills.

“This is in addition to receiving training that has been provided such as the training in digital skills programme organised by Tabung Gagasan Ekonomi Anak Sarawak (Tegas),” he said.

He added that it was also important to expose teenagers and youths to community activities so that they could do charity work with various authorities or non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“This in return will also bring benefits to them to have good values through such activities,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the futsal competition has attracted participants from outside Sarikei area such as Kapit, Sibu, Kanowit, Bintulu, Kuching and others.
