Man fined RM1,200 for damaging bedroom door

KUCHING: A glass factory worker was sentenced to a fine of RM1,200 by the Magistrate’s Court here, for running amok and breaking the bedroom door of his mother’s house last week.

The accused Syahmizam, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge framed under Section 427 of the Penal Code.

The accused is liable to be sentenced to jail for a term of up to five years or a fine or both, upon conviction.

According to the charges, he committed the offence in the bedroom in a house in Taman Sepakat Jaya, Demak Laut around 11.30 pm on Mar 4.

Assistant Senior Court Registrar Sandy Yvette Freddy sentenced the accused to two months in jail if he failed to pay the fine.

According to the facts of the case, the complainant (mother) and her daughter were sleeping in the living room, when her son suddenly went amok and broke the door of her bedroom.

Seeing the incident, the complainant and her daughter immediately ran out of the house and lodged a police report.

The accused was successfully arrested by the police at the same house the next day around 8.15 pm.

The complainant incurred losses estimated to be around RM1,000.

It is understood that the accused was under the influence of Nospan during the incident and he had previously entered a drug rehabilitation centre.

However, the accused’s urine test result came back negative.

In addition, the accused has two past records involving Section 506 of the Penal Code and Section 324 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.

Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented by a counsel.
