Ministry seizes subsidised diesel, vehicles worth over RM280k

KUCHING: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has seized five vehicles and approximately 12,569 litres of subsidised diesel valued at RM27,023.35 on Tuesday (March 26).

According to KPDN on its Facebook, this action follows a delivery case received from the General Operations Force (PGA) involving the misappropriation of subsidised controlled goods.

The inspection, conducted in Jalan Tan Sri Amar Wee, resulted in a total seizure value estimated at RM289,623.30.

“The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 to identify individuals or companies involved in the distribution chain of diesel oil, including the source of the diesel oil obtained and distributed by any irresponsible parties,” it said.

If found guilty, the penalty for a first offence can be a fine not exceeding RM2mil for corporations, while individuals can face a fine not exceeding RM1mil or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years, or both.

For a second offence, the penalty can be a fine not exceeding RM5mil for corporations, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, or both with a fine not exceeding RM3mil.

Additionally, KPDN encouraged the public to report any information regarding the misappropriation of controlled and subsidised goods through various channels, including WhatsApp at 019-848 8000, the Complaint Portal at e-aduan.kpdn.gov.my, Call Centre 1-800-886-80, or the Ez ADU KPDN app.
