40 Biya students get education incentives

SIBURAN: A total of 40 Biya students with excellent results in the public examinations received incentives here recently. The students are from 12 villages around Ulu Padawan who excelled in the UPSR, Level 3 Achievements (PT3), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) examinations.

The Academic Excellence and Incentives Award ceremony was graced by Assistant Minister of Transportation, Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil. In his speech, Jerip praised the efforts of the Biya community which emphasised the education of their children as a way to change the fate of their families.

“This is because only through education can the fate of the family to be changed for the better. “The amount of incentives received is not a major issue but parents’ awareness of the importance of education is vital,” he said.

Jerip expressed his commitment to assist education in the area of Mambong. “I am willing to allocate to the school to carry out various activities in order to improve the academic achievement of student sin the area of Mambong.

“In fact, history shows that two poor students from the Biya community have been able to achieve success because of their excel lence in educat ion,” he explained. Meanwhile, President of Biya Kuching Association, Jospeh Katip said the ceremony was to honour the success of the Biya community who excelled in the academic field.

“This is our effort as an association by safeguarding the welfare of its members, including children with outstanding education performance. “There are many activities that we organise every year and I hope the Biya community is united to support it,” Katip said.
