KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday received a courtesy call by a delegation of Organising Committee of Sarawak Literary Award or Jawatankuasa Penganjur Anugerah Sastera Negeri Sarawak (ASNS) 2017 at his residence Demak Jaya in Kuching yesterday.

Leading the delegation was Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research who is also Housing and Public Health Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee, the minister responsible for holding the programme.

The aim of the call was to invite Tun Taib to grace and officiate at the ASNS 2017 event to be held by the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Sarawak on this 26 February in Kuching.

During the ASNS event Tun Taib will be honoured to present various awards namely Anugerah Penulis Sarawak (Sarawak Writers Awards) in the categories such as Iban Language, Mandarin, Poetry Genre, Short Stories, Novel as well as ‘Anugerah Khas Bahasa dan Sastera’ (Special Language and Literary Award). At the same time the book entitled ‘P.Ramlee : Dimana Kan Ku Cari Ganti’ by Dato’ Aziz Sattar will also be launched during the event.

Also present during the courtesy call were Board Organising Member DBP Malaysia Datu Misnu Taha; DBP Sarawak Director Dr. Hazami Jahari; Acting Deputy Director of DBP Sarawak Dr Santrol Abdullah, FINAS Senior Assistant Director (Management) Ruzita Alias and a daughter of the late Dato’ Aziz Sattar, Sandakiah Azez Sattar.
