MIRI: Some 500 Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members from three branches in Miri namely Piasau, Pujut and Senadin converged on Southlake Permyjaya here for the “Berambeh Ngopi Ngan CM Abang Jo” yesterday afternoon.
It was a closed-door dialogue programme with the main objective to provide a reach out platform for the younger members of the party to convey its direction.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) president, arrived for the programme around 3.30pm and was greeted by PBB members led by Piasau chairman Councillor Sardon Zainal.
Those attending the event were mostly the party’s Miri Youth members from the aforesaid three constituencies.
Among those present were Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni, Women, Family and Childhood Development Assistant Minister Rosey Yunus, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, PBB Pujut branch chairman Abu Bakar Amit and PBB Senadin branch chairman Cr Julaihi Mohamad.
Meanwhile, Lukanisman when met before the programme started, revealed that the dialogue session yesterday was meant to provide a platform for its members to have a question and answer session with Abang Johari.
“Today it’s a sharing session whereby we share what is the GPS political direction on Miri side and what we need to do with our coalition,” he stated.
He added, apart from introducing GPS’s logo, the session was their “kick off” approach for the coming state election.
“We want to wrestle back seats which we have lost in the last election and retain our current seats apart from eagerly promoting our new coalition and its logo,” said Lukanisman.
He admitted, it would not be an easy task after more than 50 years of using ‘Dacing’ symbol (scale logo), but he believed under the CM’s leadership they should be able to do it.
When asked whether the dialogue session had anything to do with an early election rumours, Lukanisman said, “With the political situation being in a mess, anything can happen.”
