Before the road connectivity the traders from the rural areas travel in small boat along Sungai Yong which took almost a day from their longhouses to market their products to the town. Now with access road the journey only took about forty-five minutes by car.

On politics, Jamit reminded the people not to get involved with issues that do not benefit them as there are other local issues that benefit them that need to be addressed.

He pointed out that under the leadership of the current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, Kapit in particular has undergone tremendous changes.

“Now we have road access that link Kapit to the rest of the state. Meanwhile there are other programmes introduced by Najib that benefit the people like BR1M, e-kasih, housing aid (Projek Bantuan Rumah) and many others,” he said. He called on the people to rally their full support behind the BN leaders especially so during the coming 14th general election (GE14).
