One killed, 2 injured in tanker-truck collision

BINTANGOR: A head-on collision between a lorry tanker and a light truck late Thursday took the life of a 41-year-old man.

Bruin Sidu died in the accident along Julau Road, Bintangor. He was in the light truck, a Toyota Hilux.

Two others who were with him, driver Gerunsin Sidu, 32, and 66-year-old woman, Siman Kanang, were badly injured.

The Toyota Hilux was a total wreck after the accident.

The driver of the lorry and his assistant were not injured.

According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, a call was received of the accident a 6.52pm.

The Bintangor Fire and Rescue station dispatched a team of seven firemen led by officer Samsawi Mohamad to the accident scene.

They freed the three from the Toyota Hilux but Bruin was not breathing.

The injured were rushed to Sarikei Hospital in an ambulance.

Meanwhile, in another accident involving two wagons on the Bintangor-Sarikei Road on Friday, the victims emerged from their wrecked vehicles with only minor injuries.

Personnel rushed from the Bintangor Fire and Rescue station had to free the victims from their vehicles, a Toyota Avanza and a Toyota Unser, both of which overturned on impact.

All victims were sent to the hospital by relatives.
