KUCHING: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government was taken to task for not being able to fulfill what it had promised in its election manifesto.

Former Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) youth information chief Jaya Ramba said there were many unfulfilled promises which included the agreement to pay 20 per cent oil royalty to Sabah and Sarawak.
“The federal government should be more concerned about the two oil producing states,” he stressed.

He pointed out that both Sabah and Sarawak deserved to receive the 20 per cent oil royalty as promised in the PH election manifesto.

He went on to say instead the PH government was more interested in punishing its enemies or former ministers.

“If the payment is not made, this means that the federal government is lying to the people of Sarawak.

“This doesn’t make any sense. PH is only good at manipulating issues. It can say all it wants, but at the end of the day — it doesn’t walk the talk,” he said.

He added Sarawak must also receive 50 per cent of the tax revenues collected as promised.

“A promise is a promise. When we don’t keep our promises, people will look at us as incapable leaders,” he said.

Commenting on the state election set to take place in 2021, Jaya stressed that the people must cast their votes carefully.

“Choose capable and credible leaders. We must never let ‘outsiders’ (Malayan parties) influence us… Let only Sarawakian leaders take good care of the people.

“We have our own culture and manners. If possible, do not allow negative influence to destroy and break us. Let’s all be careful,” he urged.
