KUCHING: Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth is expected to launch its ‘Tawaran Anak Muda’, a youth manifesto for the 15th General Election (GE15) next week.

Its Youth chief Dr Kelvin Yii said the national manifesto, among others, will focus on addressing the main issues affecting youths.

“The main issues include having quality jobs, owning affordable housing, student activism in university as well as affordable health care for the youths.

“We believe students should be given the freedom and the power to be involved in politics and activism without being oppressed by the university.

“We are also going to touch on health care for young people. This is because, once young people have families, they need affordable health care because healthcare is getting more expensive nowadays.”

He said this during the ‘Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders dialogue with the youth’ at a cafe in Tabuan Tranquility here on Monday (Oct 24) evening.

Dr Yii, who is also the incumbent Bandar Kuching MP said one of the issues that need to be addressed was also how the youth can have power jobs for the future.

“We see many youth taking jobs as e-hailing drivers and food riders, these are gig economy workers.

“But what is the problem? Yes, they earn money, but they don’t have social security, and they do not have Employees Provident Fund (EPF). So, there are policies that we are going to put in place for the youth,” he said.

Dr Yii added that the manifesto includes starting the process of implementing either an absentee voting system or a postal vote system for all Malaysians, including Sabahan and Sarawakians so that they can vote in the election wherever they are.

Meanwhile, also present during the event were DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, DAP Sarawak chief Chong Chieng Jen, Amanah Sarawak chief Abang Halil Abang Naili, and Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong.
