KUALA LUMPUR: Businesses and government agencies in Malaysia should carefully plan their cloud adoption strategies to maximise their advantages while addressing potential challenges.
Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSTI) secretary-general Datuk Aminuddin Hassim said the government acknowledges that cloud technology is imperative to national development and productivity.
However, it also poses challenges such as data security concerns and the need for proper governance and cost management, he said.
“By fostering greater cooperation so that we can better leverage cloud technology, we can overcome the challenges of today, and be ready to anticipate and face the challenges of tomorrow,” he said.
In his opening speech at the Huawei Cloud Summit Malaysia 2023 here today, Aminuddin said the summit is a good example of what collaborative platforms can bring about – the opportunity to share insights and to dialogue on best practices in dealing with common challenges.
“I look forward to Huawei Malaysia continuing its good work in the industry together with important partners to build a thriving cloud infrastructure and ecosystem that will place us firmly within reach of our goal to become a high-income, full-fledged Digital Nation by 2030,” he said.
Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia chief executive officer Simon Sun said as a global technology leader and enabler, Huawei firmly believes that technology should serve as a catalyst for positive change.
“Malaysia is our focus in the Asia Pacific region as we believe that this country is ideally positioned to be the launch pad for this region.
“Our many successful strategic partnerships include those with leading organisations in the country such as Sunway, Tune Insurance and our global partner, XRender,” he said.
