KUCHING: Eight memoranda of understanding (MoU) and one memorandum of agreement (MoA) were sealed at the 5th International Digital Economy Conference (IDECS) 2022.
The exchange of documents was witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), today.
The first MoU was between Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) and the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), which will see a collaboration in providing Sarawak with technology experts for professional assessment in the respective technology field.
Head of Corporate Services Division Mohd Irtidzar Razali represented SMA and President Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir represented MBOT.
The second MoU was between SMA and the Association of Professional Technicians and Technologists (APTT), a collaboration to hone the talent development of professional technicians and technologists in Sarawak’s digital economy development.
Chairman Ahmad Zawawi Kasmin represented APTT Sarawak.
APTT and MBOT also agreed to collaboration between both parties as a Technology Expert Panel (TEP) in the related technology and technical field.
Meanwhile the pact reached between SMA and Global Entrepreneurship Sdn Bhd (Startup Malaysia) and Petrosains Sdn Bhd virtually last week, the event saw an exchange of documents which will involve collaboration in grassroots entrepreneurship, digital literacy programmes and collaboration in digital skills and talent development for Sarawak digital economy agenda.
Another MoU was sealed between the Sarawak government, SMA, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEXS), Sains Information System (SAINS) and Microsoft (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, to set out the possible framework, working relationships and future commitments of both parties in relation to the capacity building programme.
Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia K Raman and General Manager, Small, Medium, Corporate (SMC) Group Microsoft Malaysia Datin Lim Bee Wah represented Microsoft.
Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) also exchanged MoU documents with two corporations, namely the Asia School of Business (ASB) and Teraju Bumiputera Corporation, with the former helping to design digital transformation leadership programmes for government-linked companies (GLCs) and corporate sectors and to collaborate with Teraju in corporate sustainability and digital enterprise.
ASB was represented by Chief Operating Officer Kristina Rai Hakikat Rai and representing Teraju was Chief Executive Officer Datuk Md Silmi Abd Rahman.
One MoA was also reached between Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and Universitas Mulia,East Kalimantan.
The collaboration will see all universities using a machine learning approach for operational research, a knowledge-based approach for information understanding and a machine learning approach for knowledge discovery and prediction.
Unimas was represented by Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Kadim Suaidi, UMS Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk ChM Dr Taufiq Yap Yun Hin and Head of Research for Universitas Mulia Richki Hardi.
Also present were IDECS Chairwoman Datuk Dr Sabariah Putit, Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai and representatives from each corporation.
