KUCHING: All premises or offices found to be at risk of Covid-19 infections will be ordered to close for sanitisation while all exposed contacts will be screened and given instructions to undergo quarantine.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that six factories, one kindergarten, one eatery and one supermarket in Kuching district have been ordered to close for two weeks as of Sunday (Aug 15).

“The closure was ordered under Act 342 (Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases) due to risk of transmission in the workplace.

“Besides that, there are also premises that decided to close voluntarily under the monitoring of the Kuching Divisional Health Office,” SDMC said in a statement today (August 15).

On another note, the committee stated that the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be implemented at Uma Balui Liko, Sungai Asap in Belaga from August 13 to 26.

The EMCO will also be implemented at Kampung Medang, Spaoh in Betong from August 16 to 29.
