KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang has pledged to do his best for his constituency.

“I believe that as an elected representative, it is my duty to do my very best for my constituency,” he told reporters after officiating at Program Pembangunan Komuniti at SJK Chung Hua Batu 10 here on Sunday (Jan 10).

Lo said the state had the financial capability to support its elected representatives.

“Look at the RM1 million for repair of houses and agriculture subsidy. Look at the RM5 million Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds. These are just a few. When we need more money, the chief minister will provide.

“What is happening in Peninsular Malaysia today? They are fighting over the prime minister’s post. The economy is not improving, our ringgit value is going down, and they are fighting over who is going to be the next prime minister instead of governing the country and helping our people.”

Lo added Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had succeeded in strengthening the position of Sarawak and that the federal government was desperately in need of support from GPS.

“With GPS’ stronger position, Sarawak continues to seek the state’s rights from the federal government,” he said.
