RWMF receives another international award

KUCHING: Sarawak Tourism Board is pleased to announce that Rainforest World Music Festival has been accorded an international award recently.

TheAsia-Pacific Excellence Awardshosted by Communication Director, a magazine for global decision makers in corporate communications, Public Relations (PR) and public affairs gave recognition to the festival.

It also partners with Asia-Pacific Association of Communications Directors (APACD), a new network for in-house communicators working in the region.

The award, recognises the festival’s Event & Experiential Marketing for its public relation exercise, and was handed over to Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg on 28 April at his office.

The festival was also shortlisted among the three finalists for the Asia-Pacific Excellence awards under the category in Entertainment & Culture.

The award -handing over ceremony was held on 19 April, 2017 at the Harbour Grand Kowloon, Hong Kong and attracted over 2,500 applications around the globe.

Earlier in February this year, the festival also was given an international accolade when it received the Silver Adrian Awardby the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI)for its Public Relations work for the Festival at the New York Marriott Marquis on 21 February, 2017.

This is the second time this festival received the Silver Adrian Award, the first time being in 2012 for its ‘Re-imaging Campaign’.

The event has been voted as one of the top 25 World Music Festivals by Songlines Magazine for six years in a row, from 2010 to 2015.

This year marks the 20th edition of the Rainforest World Music Festival and will kick off with three days of all-day entertainment including mini music sessions, health and wellness activities, food and craft markets, traditional games as well as the nightly performances.

The Festival is supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Sarawak and endorsed by Tourism Malaysia with Malaysia Airlines as presenting sponsors.
