PADAWAN: Sarawak aims to provide 145,000 job opportunities by 2030.

The Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Minister said the job prospects would include those in the economic policy catalyst sector as well as 50,000 in the business area.

Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn emphasised that more productive, efficient, skilled as well as technical, and high-value energy resources should be the main goals of the human capital transformation plan.

“Due to the fluctuating career path, our workforce must possess a wide range of abilities and adapt to industry standards. We must evolve, adapt, and be more flexible.

“(As such), we will implement policies towards the digital era, sustainable development, decarbonisation and the new economy to ensure social economic prosperity, inclusiveness and environmental sustainability,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the closing ceremony of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) For Communities programme at Kampung Sira here today.

To pave the way for making the effort, Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn asserted the state government is driving infrastructure development through the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.

“With talent, skills, and innovation as our fuel, this will enable us to launch into the second phase of Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 expansion.

“Apart from raising living standards and expanding the economy, it will open up business and employment opportunities.

“Consequently, the plan entailed educating people to improve their skills and income,” he said.

On the same note, to address the gaps in the economic ecosystem, he said the government will change the economic structure, modernise and increase efficiency, increase household income and protect the environment.

To steer towards a developed Sarawak with a high income,he added that they also aim to increase the average monthly income to RM15,047 by the year 2030.

Meanwhile, Sagah who is also Tarat assemblyman urged the local residents to make use of technology to promote eco-tourism in Kampung Sira.

More visitors are hoped to come to visit the village for its tourist-attraction spots while promoting local business such as foods and so on.
