CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

LONG LAMA: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau thanked Samling Group of Companies for its continuous support for communities in his constituency via their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

“Despite its heavy responsibilities, Samling Corporation has always come forward in desperate situations when we, the representatives and longhouse leaders call them for help,” he said.

He was commenting on road repair works carried out by Samling on a section of a road in Telang Usan which collapsed due to heavy rain recently.

“I am very thankful to Samling for repairing the road which will greatly ease communication in the area,” he said.

Dennis said that with many government projects taking shape in Telang Usan, it had inevitably resulted in an increase in the number of heavy vehicles plying these earth roads thus causing damages as these unfamiliar drivers did not understand how to drive along logging roads in bad weather conditions.

“Stuck trailers or big vehicles cause huge problem to other road users and the rural community who rely on transport service providers and four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicles to commute or transport their goods.

Dennis advised heavy vehicle owners and drivers not to travel along these earth words on wet and rainy days.
