Sarawak delegation visits Malaysian Embassy in Madrid

KUCHING: Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi and his entourage visited the Malaysian Embassy and participated in a telecommunications-related visit in Madrid, Spain recently.

The Sarawak delegation led by Julaihi was welcomed by counsellor Farhan Areffin, Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) who currently holds the duties of the Malaysian Ambassador because the successor of the Ambassador whose term of service expires in Dec 2023 has not yet been replaced.

The purpose of the visit was to express appreciation and gratitude to the Malaysian embassy in Spain for the assistance given to Sarawak during the participation in the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC24).

Thus, the Sarawak Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication also participated in a telecommunications-related visit together with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) to Skydweller which is located in Madrid, Spain on March 1, 2024.

“The visit to Skydweller aims to understand more about the technology and capabilities of the High Altitude Platform System (HAPS) in helping to achieve wide telecommunication coverage and the potential to expand cooperation in the Asia Pacific region, especially Sarawak as the centre of Asia Pacific operations.

“Madrid-based Skydweller is a multinational aerospace startup that develops solar-powered aircraft capable of continuous flight,” the ministry said in a statement.
