Sibu FA league receives donation of RM7,500

SIBU: Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Alice Lau Kiong Yieng, has extended a donation of RM7,500 to the Sibu Football Association (Sibu FA).

The donation is intended for the organisation of the Unity League – Alice Lau Kiong Yieng, which is expected to commence on May 18 to 19.

Chairman of the Sibu Division Referees, Lorentossa Johnnie Tegong, said that they are targeting 32 teams to participate in the league.

He said the league will take place at two separate locations, namely the Football Field on Jalan Lada and the Sibu Prison Field on Jalan Awang Ramli Amit here.

“During the organisation of the league, we will be utilising certified referees from the Sibu Referees Association.

“If this league is successful and receives support, it will become an annual event for Sibu FA,” he said in a statement today (March 24).

He said the organisation of the league aims to strengthen camaraderie among football enthusiasts in the central zone.

“This is an opportunity for players, especially the youth, to meet leaders who are people-oriented like Lanang MP Alice Lau while also selecting young talents, especially those aged 20 and below, to represent Sibu in the SSC-FAS Under-20 Football League,” he said.
