KUCHING: Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) Commercial general manager Mohamad Shahren Mohamad Yusri has urged individuals with skills to join them as service providers and utilise their digital platform Sara-X.

He said Centexs had organised the Sara-X Technical Excellence Programme (STEP) as the first step for service providers which will be included in Sara-X.

Through STEP, he said participants would be able to gain knowledge on how to utilise Sara-X as well as how they could interact with users once they started getting bookings.

“That is why we organised STEP; to provide early exposure so that once they have become service providers, they will be ready mentally and physically,” he said at the STEP Series 1 at the Centexs Auditorium here today.

“We are also working with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) to provide exposure to participants in terms of how to get grants to become an entrepreneur,” he said.

Mohamad Shahren said this STEP session was the first series, after which participants would undergo a second series to gain certification upon being assessed.

“This is called Recognition of Prior Experience (RPE). This is given to individuals who have skills based on experience but they need to be certified,” he said.

Centexs will hold these awareness or exposure programmes based on demand, adding that these programmes are held free of charge to encourage people to join them as service providers, he pointed out.

“Next year, once people have started to know more about Sara-X and wish to become service providers on the platform, we can have programmes like this once a month or even twice a month based on demand,” he said.

He explained that Sara-X was a platform for service providers in technical fields such as hair-cutting, plumbing, electrical, makeup, and so on.

Mohamad Shahren also urged members of the public to book services through the Sara-X application, explaining that this would benefit both customers and service providers.

Hani Gani, 30, founder of Team Kaya Jelita, described Sara-X as platform to help customers to easily find services at their fingertips.

“All they have to do is just look up for the application for whatever services they may require,” she said when met at the programme.

Meanwhile, Dayan Sawing, 50, a provider of grass-cutting and outdoor cleaning services, said Sara-X had helped him a lot in terms of marketing.

“This platform not only helps us as service providers, but it also benefits customers who are searching for a particular service. In addition, it is secure for users,” he said.
