KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) chief, Wilfred Yap, was recently approached by the business community in Kota Sentosa commercial area, seeking his assistance.

The traders and hawkers at the old Mile 7 Bazaar market sought Yap’s assistance to request the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to tarseal the road in front of the market between the two traffic light junctions instead of just doing patching up works as had been done previously.

They said that the traffic volume on the road was usually heavy, especially at the bus stop in front of the market.

Yap said the hawkers and traders also requested for the road by the side of Kota Sentosa town square to also be tarsealed to prevent it from being water-logged when it rained.

Following the request for assistance, Yap brought up the traders’ predicaments to the attention of the MPP and later, together with officers from the council’s Engineering Department, inspected and assessed the situation.

He was told by MPP engineers that tarsealing of the road would commence as soon as they completed the calculation and costing works.

Yap assured that he would monitor the situation closely with MPP until the whole improvement works were completed.
