KUCHING: Sports Toto will hold a 5-day donation campaign that will begin on Jan 28 next year, with the target to benefit a total of 118 old folk’s homes nationwide.

Unlike the previous Sports Toto’s Chinese New Year Ang Pow Donation Campaign – where it was held in 50 towns and cities annually for the past 33 years – Sports Toto has decided to donate to the old folks’ homes next year due to the worsening pandemic situation.

Sports Toto Senior Communications manager, Giam Say Khoon said that while the country is still fighting the pandemic, we regret that we are unable to hold the donation campaign to benefit the general public like what we used to do in the previous years.

“Thus, the company has decided to only donate to the old folk’s homes to minimise the risk of exposing the senior citizens, who is also the high risk group to the pandemic and we hope to resume the traditional donation campaign in 2022 when it is all over,” he said in a statement today.

For information, since the inception of the charitable campaign in 1988, Sports Toto has contributed over RM22 million worth of ang pows and hampers to more than 410,000 senior citizens in the country.

The donation campaign is part of the Helping Hands programme – a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by Sports Toto to share, give and care for the community.
