KUCHING: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak Branch will continue to move on with its Pakatan Harapan (PH) partners in Sarawak to face the upcoming state election which is expected to be held any time soon.

PKR Batang Sadong Branch chief Piee Ling said the nation’s political crisis was affecting party branches in the state, especially after Selangau MP Baru Bian, Saratok MP Ali Biju and Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin quit the party.

“Baru leaving means we have lost the chairman of the State Leadership Council (MPN). This also means all appointments in the MPN made by him are null and void,” Piee said.

According to Piee, the management of the MPN is automatically taken over by the party’s Central Council (MPP).

He claimed that this was discussed by the heads of the state party branches together with PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution in Kuala Lumpur recently.

Following the discussion, the MPP has been duly informed and will appoint a new chairman in the near future, he added.

Piee reminded PKR Sarawak to stay calm and stand firm with the party and to put their trust in the MPP in the absence of the chairman.

“Leadership at the branch level can still carry on with the party’s daily affairs as usual because their posts were chosen during the party’s election and not through appointment by the chairman of the MPN or the party president.

“Most members are still with PKR including those from the branches led by Baru (Lawas), Ali (Saratok) and Willie (Puncak Borneo).”
