Teenage rapist sent to correctional school

KUCHING: A teenager who pleaded guilty to raping his underage girlfriend was ordered by the Sessions Court here today to be sent to the Henry Gurney School at Puncak Borneo.

After examining the accused’s social report, Judge Jason Juga ruled that the 19-year-old offender should be sent to the school until he turns 21.

The teenager pleaded guilty to raping his 15-year-old girlfriend at an unnumbered house in Kampung Skibang, Bau between August and September last year.

He was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.

According to the facts of the case, the victim went to Sebisak Health Clinic in Kota Samarahan at 8am on Oct 15, 2020 to get a health examination and was told that she was 11 weeks pregnant and expected to give birth this May.

The victim was told by the accused that he would take responsibility for the child.
