KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan chairman Senator Robert Lau has called for a change of representative in the Bawang Assan constituency.

“This is because Bawang Assan has lagged behind in terms of overall development with areas still without public road access, electricity and treated water.

“It is time for a change,” he said when speaking to community leaders during a briefing held by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties recently.

The one-day briefing to prepare for the coming 12th Sarawak Election was hosted by Lau.

The briefing was conducted by Petrus Igat, a political secretary to the Chief Minister.

At the same time, participants were also urged to consider carefully the candidate and the party that would represent them.

“They should look for a party that has the best chance to be in power after the election and a candidate who will be able to bring in much- needed development during the next five years,” Lau added.

Meanwhile, participants expressed their confidence that the voters of Bawang Assan would support the GPS-led state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Presently, the Bawang Assan seat is held by Parti Sarawak Bersatu president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh.
