KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud always puts the socioeconomic development and political stability of the state as the key agenda in Sarawak’s development.

According to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, the Head of State is a symbol of unity of the multiracial and multi-religious people of Sarawak.

“Unity in diversity is the main identity of Sarawak which needs to be nurtured and maintained forever,” he said at a state dinner in conjunction with the Head of State’s 84th birthday celebration on Saturday.

The chief minister said Taib’s earnestness in planning the development of the state when he was head of the state’s administration was also backed by the strong racial unity and mutual tolerance of the people.

“On behalf of the people, I express gratitude for the contributions of Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Tun towards the development of Sarawak all this while,” said Abang Johari.
