BELADIN: All parties involved in oil palm cultivation in the Beting Maro constituency will be called to discuss “disproportionate” profit distribution.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya said the issue has also surfaced in his constituency.

“I take note of what was voiced out by Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor and his wish to fight for the rights of the residents there because the same issue happened at Jemoreng.

“In my opinion, the Unit Integrity and Ombudsman (Union) needs to sit down with the related parties, including elected representative and the residents (participants).

“This is to ensure that the distribution of profit from the plantation that is received by the participants is appropriate. If it involves integrity, we will also invite the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC),” he said.

He was saying this in response to the issue raised by Razaili during the opening of the Betong Division Integrity Tour 4/2022 Series at the Beladin Community Hall recently.

“With the high price of oil palm at this time, participants should not be given a low profit distribution,” he said.

On another note, he expressed his commitment to look closely into the many ‘sick’ projects which needs attention.

Earlier, Razaili also touched on the issue concerning the plantation, where he said the promise to ensure the people gain profits of up to RM4,000 per month failed to materialise even after 16 years.

“That is why I urge Datuk Dr Juanda and Union to do something as part of the solution. I believe, if it’s not fixed, there will be no changes in the socio-economic aspect.

“I was honestly thankful when the Premier founded the Union, it is seen as a union that looks for solutions in order to defend the fate of villagers.

“It is important for us to ensure the people enjoy the profit that is supposedly from the effort of the government,” he added.
