Airlines in June bounced back to almost pre-Covid levels

GENEVA: The airlines look back on a strong June as passenger traffic grew by 31 per cent year-on-year, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported in Geneva on Tuesday.

For the first half of the year, global operations were 47.2 per cent stronger than in the same period in 2022, it said, reported dpa news agency.

“Globally, traffic is now at 94.2 per cent of pre-Covid levels,” IATA reported.

Planes were particularly full in North America and Europe, it said.

Airlines from the Asia-Pacific region were up 128.1 per cent in passenger kilometres in June compared to June 2022.

European airlines were up 14 per cent and North American airlines were up 23.3 per cent. – BERNAMA-dpa
