KUALA LUMPUR: As countries ramp up their economic activities post-COVID-19, the importance of data sharing among Asean countries is seen as greater than ever in order to further boost the trade bloc’s strength in the global economy arena.

BIMB Securities Sdn Bhd’s Dr Nurmalizah Mahzan said a country’s data intelligence and data analytics could help another member country to plan and develop initiatives, especially in crafting more effective and efficient economic policies.

Timely and comparable data is a great asset, she said, noting that it can also be the country’s strength in attracting foreign direct investment, forge collaborations and promote technology transfer as its capacities and capabilities are made known to the masses. – BERNAMA
