KUCHING: Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) has been urged to create digital services so that it can get closer to communities.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg advised DBKU to come up with a dedicated platform such as website or phone application so that communities in DBKU’s jurisdiction could easily forward their complaints or enquires directly to DBKU.
“I hope DBKU can look at this. In this digital era, this is a new approach and it is faster,” he said during the DBKU Friendly Neighbourhood Special Meeting with the Chief Minister at USCI Hotel here yesterday.
He said for instance, when there was a damaged road in DBKU areas, those in the area could immediately send photos, including the location, to DBKU through such platform.
“This means that you can send the messages directly to that dedicated platform and a solution can be given to the affected people,” he pointed out.
Abang Johari said similarly he had also recently launched the Public Works Department (JKR) DasH App where through the app he could better monitor projects to ensure they were implemented properly.
“Same goes to the Land and Survey Department where they have this platform called e-LASIS. With this system it can help to check the situation of the land and whether the land tax had been paid or not,” he said.
Therefore, he hoped DBKU could come out with a similar approach so that it would be easier for the communities in DBKU areas to send their complaints.
In the meantime, to ensure security and safety of the communities in DBKU areas, Abang Johari said the state government would be installing closed-circuit televisions (CCTVs) in strategic areas.
Earlier, Abang Johari also witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing between DBKU and Centre of Technical Excellence (Centexs), Zecon Berhad and Maltimur Resources Sdn Bhd and Rafulin Holdings.
The MoU between DBKU and Centexs will see Centexs providing training to DBKU staff whereas the MOU between DBKU and Zecon Berhad and Maltimur Resources Sdn Bhd and Rafulin Holdings will see the said companies adopting two roundabouts for beatification purposes in DBKU areas.
Also present were Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi and DBKU Mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan.
